At present we have been enjoying the presence of two Swiss medical volunteers: Dr Eugen Mäder, a General Practitioner and Psychiatrist and his wife, Caroline, a physiotherapist have volunteered for five weeks and are working with Fr Bong SJ. Eugen was born, and lives in Switzerland, Caroline is Dutch but was born in Indonesia. Both speak German. We certainly have a United Nations community! Like all of us Eugen and Caroline are battling with the oppressive heat but have not been deterred by it. Every day they go out with the Mobile Clinic and/or the Feeding Programme. What a contrast! From the cool, green lower mountain slopes of Switzerland to the parched, dry, hot and very dusty Timor they came to! They were looking quite distressed until the rains came!
